I think the TF2 "lore" has been touched on plenty enough by now. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to say that it's been overdone. I know I only have 3 TF2 videos, but they're also the main source of my subscribers. The main reason I like the Saxxies and probably the same reason TF2 videos are so commonly made is not because of that stupid little cosmetic item in TF2, they make excellent launching pads for smaller channels (aka me before Saxxy2012), I even gained nearly 2000 subscribers from just the Sabotage page. Even on this video I've noticed a bigger jump in subs than I saw when I uploaded Grilled, Walk, or TBOGM. I only have about 8k subs right now, but I don't think I need to use TF2 to draw in more subs. Truth is, I haven't played TF2 in months. I'm not up to date on it, and I'm generally bored of the game. If you subscribed for just TF2, I understand if you want to leave. I probably won't be participating in the 2014 and on Saxxy Awards.
