Польский концепт-кар... в смысле концепт-танк PL-01.
Машина пехоты «Носорог» была чем-то вроде талисмана их взвода, одной из немногих машин, не предназначенных для штурма кораблей. «Носорог» был настоящим древним монстром, собранным еще лет сто назад, простым и надежным, как кувалда. Эта машина была дипломатическим ответом Федерации одной из малых рас, не пожелавших освободить свою планету для горных работ, мол, подумайте еще раз, прежде чем отказывать нам. Метровые бронепластины защищали его борта и узкий нос, внутри могло поместиться двадцать человек в экзоскелетах, а крышу машины венчала толстущая пузатая плазменная пушка, чьи накопительные емкости и отводные трубки сияли голубой плазмой, и защитный пво-про комплекс.
Сейчас все используют гравитанки, ведь технология не стоит на месте Изящные и красивые машины в сорок тонн весом, они парят над землей и обладают отличной скоростью и проходимостью, ибо никогда не вязнут и не застревают. «Носорог» — морально устаревший тип техники. Однако «старое» не значит «плохое». Парочка модернизаций, и машина вновь в строю.
Представьте себе идеальный клинок. Гибкая сталь, великолепная заточка, зеркальная полировка и прекрасная форма... Это гравитанк «Обсидиан». А теперь представьте себе монолитную, уродливую железную кувалду, испачканную в земле и навозе. Это — бронемашина «Носорог». И при столкновении этих двух орудий от клинка останется лишь прах, потому что измазанная в говне кувалда растолчет его в два счета. Примерно то же самое происходит при столкновении гравитанка и древней бронемашины на гусеничном ходу. Монстр в сто двадцать тонн весом просто наезжает на легонький гравитанк и давит его в лепешку, перемалывая своими жуткими гусеницами в труху. И пусть в плане огневой мощи «Носорог» не блещет, зато для штурма укреплений подходит идеально, ибо, в отличие от танка на гравиподушке, он попросту неостановим и легко пробивает собой даже бетонные укрепления, не говоря уже о земляных валах и прочей ерунде.
