тем, что там будет строительство районов, как в одной из предыдущих игр студии - endless legend. И возможно боёвка тоже.

Таки да, если у них полутся сделать пошаговую боёвку в мультиплеер лучше чем в CIV5/6 это станет уже достаточно крупным плюсом в пользу этой игры.

Ну, боёвка эндлесса была херовой лишь тем, что там было всего 6 ходов. Вот если просто сделать лучше типичную боёвку цивы, то будет уже хорошо.

Как я понимаю, там должны быть более лулзовые события, чем копьеносцы против танков

Она похожа только внешне, но очень многими механиками отличается. Например ты при переходе между эрами можешь целиком сменить свою цивилизацию, открыв новые плюшки и сохранив фишки всех выбранных тобою предыдущих.

Боевка там проходит не на самой карте, как в циве, а по карте перемещаются "стаки" из отрядов а-ля тотал вор, и при столкновении разворачивается своя арена, в которой идет пошаговый бой на защиту/захват флага. Чем-то похоже на боевку Endless Legend, но в EL ты просто сразу задавал всем отрядам команды и они что-то делали, а тут пошаговость более традиционная.

Ну и всякие мелочи на манер того что чудеса нужно вроде как "выкупать", чтобы беспрепятственно построить, и то что вместо сразу строительства нового города можно создать в области "аванпост", собирающий ресурсы, на манер Endless Space 2.
