NOVERNS Ethemaru of the North COATS Noverns are inhabitants of Novere, a mountainous place in the north-east of Wilde - the land of winter. They’re the tallest and sturdiest race of ethemaru and managed to persist even after the great perish of magic that happened after the dark age passed. They are well-capable of enduring the harsh climate of the high north of Wilde and live off of an omnivorous diet. Noverns used to excel in levitation and moved great golems during the dark age. a defining race of Wilde. They gradually lost most of their magic capabilities after the great perish of magic, making them struggle with their hostile surroundings and neighbors when their powers got weaker. Their birthrates also declined over the passing centuries due to the loss of fertility in women, specifically high-classed Idola, users of magic that practiced the little of what was left of their magic abilities. Their women may reach a day of fertility only a few times in their whole life and not all women are necessarily nobles that even want to have progeny. Novem women are particularly dominant due to their former high magic attributes compared to men. Noverns are still capable of levitation and use their magic to some degree, but it's weak and has to be practiced frequently to be of any use. Most of their common people cannot really utilize their magic and only those who are deemed noble are really eligible nowadays to enter the guild of Idola to refine their abilities. Noverns used to be really bound to nature, but nobles put themselves apart from these who dwell in the forests down in the vale. Noverns of the vale are considered wildren, a typical term for a pagan forest-dweller of Wilde. Wildren are usually easily recognized, boasting imagery of crossed-out eyes of the Sisters painted all over their shaggy robes of fur and leather. Their wildren are well-known to bond with feral griffins and use them as protectors of their clans. Stormcrows, the guild of protectors of Novere often hunt them along with their own griffins that are raised in roost towers. The nasal horn and horns of noverns vary greatly in size and texture. Their horns are naturally rough in texture, but some may whet them down to perfect smoothness. Their men always have a set of two horns while their women only have a single one adorn on the top of their head. Noverns have three general types of coats - dawn, dusk and ghost. They are usually referred as dawn-, dusk- and ghostbom. Dawnbom are often nobles and skilled magicians, originating from the southern parts of Novere. Duskborn are commonly warriors and wildren. Ghostbom are very rare and almost exclusive to the royal house of Novere.
